Ten Things To Remember On Your First Weeks of High School.

Hey! Welcome back to my blog! Today I wanted to do a post about ten things to remember on your first few weeks of high school. I thought this was suitable since school just started! This post is aiming towards freshmen but can definitely be directed towards any grade of high school students.

  1. It’s gonna be different. It is super important to understand and always remember that high school is NOT the same as middle school. So stop comparing middle school to high school because they are completely different, there are different students, teachers, classes, and social groups. High School is gonna be super weird and nerve-wracking  at first but that’s okay.
  2. Get Involved. I know I say this all the time but it is super important to get involved. It doesn’t only look good on your college apps but it  is also a ton of fun to try new things!
  3. Have Fun. Yep. Go to those football games and all the homecomings, they may not be a ton of fun but you can make them fun. Every year I look towards to going to homecoming and dressing up and dancing with my friends for that one night each year.
  4. Hard Work. It’s your first week of High School, of course your teachers are being nice and laid back right now. Not meaning to scare you, but they WILL get more strict and actually expect more from you than a signed syllabus.
  5. Be Nice. I don’t really think there is much to elaborate on this one but I will just in case. Be nice to anyone and everyone you meet in high school because they have to go through hard times just like you. If you don’t know them you can’t judge them.
  6. If It’s Not Your Story to Tell… Then Don’t Tell It. Just like in middle school, rumors spread like wildfire. Literally. Do not gossip, if it is not your story don’t tell it. Gossiping is an easy thing to fall into while you are at high school because so many other people around you gossip. But I encourage you to always stand up for someone when they are being gossiped about; I am sure you would want the same done for you.
  7. Spark Notes is your BFF. I must admit, Spark Notes is pretty awesome. Now don’t get me wrong, you NEED to read your books for school but when you just read an entire chapter and have no clue what just happened.. Spark Notes will help you out.
  8. Study. This one seems pretty obvious but I thought I would throw it out there. No, you are not gonna pass a test if you stay up all night watching netflix and don’t study for your test. High School isn’t the most challenging thing in the world but you still have to make an effort.
  9. Pray. During High School it is very important to have a close relationship with Christ and to pray constantly. High School will throw conflicts and struggles your way and when they come, you will know exactly where to turn to.
  10. Friends. Yes, I’m about to say the must cliche sentence in the world “make new friends”. There I said it, but it very true! It is important to make new friends in high school and hang out with the people that make you feel like you are special.

Thank you so much for reading my blog! Like usual, a new blog post will be up on Thursday! Have a great week!

First

Hello! Welcome back to my blog! I hope everyone had a great first couple of days of school this week! Today I decided that I would talk about seeking God first before anything!

I have recently been listening to the song “First” by Lauren Daigle (link will be at end of post) it not only sounds amazing, but the lyrics mean a lot to me. This song reminds me to seek God first before anything else in my life, no matter how big or small the problem is God has it under control. This has been a great reminder for me when I started school again because whenever I ran into problems with school or work, instead of trying to fix it by myself and end up getting overwhelmed and frustrated, I just prayed first. He makes everything in my life happen for a reason and it will not help for me to freak out about little thing that goes wrong at school, work, or even in my life to be general. So instead of freaking out I must seek God first and ask for His help, because we all know that I can’t do it without Him. He is there to help me and protect me, all I need to do is seek Him.

Thank you for reading! I encourage you all to seek God first! New blog post will be up on Monday! The link to the song will be below!

God’s got this under control.

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today is officially my start to senior year! Because of this, I thought is it would be fitting to talk about anxiety in this blog post.

Each year when school starts up again, I can’t help but be anxious about what the year has in store for me. It makes me scared to think about all the many things that could change within a years time. Everything can be awesome one day and be absolutely awful the next. I can tend to let my emotions and fears overcome me, but then I remember something: I AM THE CHILD OF THE ONE TRUE KING. He is on my side, He is in control of everything in my life. He is for me, He is not against me. Whatever happens, happens because it was in His plan. I could choose to be overcome by anxiety and think of all  the things that I could go wrong this year. But, instead I choose to have peace and know that God has got this under control.

So I am no longer worried about this school year and all the mysteries it holds. Instead, I am happy and excited to see what God has in store for me and my friends this year. I choose to be excited about the unknown mysteries that this school year will bring, and I refuse to be scared. God has this under control.

Thank you all for reading! Below is a link to the song “You Make Me Brave” by Bethel, not only is it an amazing song but it s completing relevant to what I wrote about today! As always, my next blog post will be up on Thursday!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”
– Philippians 4:6-7

God Won’t Give You More Than You Can Handle?

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today I am gonna be talking about the cliche phrase that many Christians use and think it is actually true. The phrase “God won’t give you more than you can handle” is way overused and also false, and here is why.

This phrase is used mostly to be encouraging and uplifting to a friend or family member who is going through a hard time. But, in reality this phrase is never in the Bible, not once. This phrase can be a misquotation of 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

So now that we know it’s a misquotation, let’s get one thing straight; God does give you more than you can handle! God gives me more than I can handle everyday! Let’s take Moses for instance, asking Moses to free the Israelites from Pharaoh, that was definitely more than Moses could handle! Do you really think that without God, Moses could have freed the Israelites and parted the red sea? Yeah, no. Although God certainly gave Moses more than he could handle he was still able to free the slaves because God was with him and helping him through the whole entire thing. So yes, God actually does gives me more than I can handle. But I know that he is always with me and with His help I can handle it.

P.S, I cant believe that school starts on Monday!

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”-Philippians 4:13

Pray, Always.

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! I hope you are all having a great today! Today I wanted to talk about prayer!

A lot of the times I hear people talking about their struggles and they first thing I ask them is “did you pray about this?” And I am sure you can guess, their answer is almost always no. But really, the first thing they should have done when things got tough was pray. God listens to all our prayers and answers them, always! Instead of complaining and telling other people about your day to day struggles you should be praying about them! If you seem to be going through a really tough time pray to God for understanding on why he put you in that certain situation, because He has a reason!

Often times people turn to everything they can possibly turn  towards in order to fix the situation. But, what we all really should be doing is praying first before anything else! When in a panic pray! Always pray.

Laziness isn’t an excuse.

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! If you were wondering why I did not post on Monday (like I usually do), I am wondering the exact same thing! I have no idea why I didn’t post on Monday I think I just totally forgot! But anyways, today I will be talking about laziness. It’s becoming a world wide epidemic. No joke. My laziness level is unreal you guys, it’s an actual issue.

I understand being lazy is a trait that almost everyone has (whether they want to admit it or not). But it is very important to have a very close relationship with Christ and to be reading your Bible everyday. Your laziness should not be preventing you from doing so! If you really want to pursue a close relationship with Christ then you would not procrastinate reading your Bible until the last possible second. Or not reading you Bible because you don’t feel like it or are too lazy to do so. If you really want to have a close relationship with Christ than you should be jumping for joy when you have the opportunity to read your Bible each day. You should spend as much time as you possibly can with Him. When you are lying in your bed at 6am and coming up with excuses to sleep in and not read your Bible, I encourage you to consider all the reasons you should read your Bible! I urge you to stop making excuses and start really trying to have that close relationship with Christ that you have always wanted! If you have time to read this blog post then you have time to read your Bible! Laziness is not an excuse!

Piinterest Hits and Misses: Fireworks in a cup

Hello! Welcome back to my blog! Today I will be continuing the series titled “Pinterest Hits and Misses”. Today instead of doing a recipe or craft I did a science experiment! (ooohh)

The science experiment I did was called “fireworks in a cup”. This of course is supposed to be for kids, but I find amusement in most everything so I figured why not? All the pins made this science experiment look totally awesome! The pins stated wild claims such as: “my kids loved it!” “we do this once a week!” “its just so easy!”. So of course I was very intrigued. I read all the directions top to bottom (twice) and was determined to make this science experiment work! The directions were simple: get a warm cup of water and set it aside, then get a cup and put a few tablespoons of oil (any type) in side the cup and put multiple drops of different color food coloring inside the cup with oil. After this was completed all you had to was simply stir the cup of oil and dye up and put it in the warm water. This was supposed to make some sort of reaction that made the cup look like it had fireworks in it.

Well.. okay. I definitely wouldn’t say this made “fireworks” but the end result was cool!. I will say that it did indeed was  fun but the only color that appeared in my finished product was green and I was told I would see all 4 of the colors I placed in the oil. I will admit the experiment was super easy and the end outcome looked neat, but it wasn’t anywhere near the finish product I was told I would receive. So for those reasons I will have to call this one a MISS as well. But who knows, maybe this was just user error? It did look cool and is worth a try but I was missing the “fireworks” aspect. I was really hoping this would work out and based on many pictures it has for many people! So I encourage you to try it and let me know how it worked! It could have just been me! I will insert a picture below to show you my finished outcome.image

Thank you all for reading! I will be posting again on Monday and will be posting more on this series soon! I am hoping to find something that I would call a HIT!!  See you soon!

Pinterest Hits and Misses: Cookie in a Mug

Hi! Welcome back to my blog! Today I will be talking about the cookie in a mug recipe on Pinterest!

I first saw this recipe on Pinterest a few years ago and thought it looked interesting but never tried it. Today I happened upon it again and decided I would give it a try. I figured it must be pretty awesome since there is soo many different variations of this recipe. Such as the: “cake in a mug recipe”, “cheesecake in a mug recipe”, and the “brownie in a mug recipe”. At first I thought I would do a tutorial on how to do this recipe. But then it hit me, why would I make a tutorial on something that you can find literally everywhere on google and pinterest?? So then I decided that I should make the cookie in a mug to see if it actually works. There are thousands of meals and crafts all over pinterest but there are only a few sites explaining if these crafts and meals actually work or not. That is when I decided to create my first ever blog series called “Pinterest hits and misses” (original name.. I know).

So I am sure you are dying to know whether or not the cookie in a mug aimagectually works or not. Don’t worry I will tell you that…eventually ;). So first thing is first.. the recipe itself was easy and took about 5 minutes total to make. Although I do think the concept is a great one, the end product definitely was not the best. I mean, a microwave can only do so much. And a microwave can not substitute an oven! The pros of this recipe were: easy to make, quick, unique (not something you eat every day) and fun! The cons: not too tasty, a little too doughy, not worth the calories. 😉 No but seriously, it was fun trying out this recipe but I most definitely won’t be trying this again. I much rather stick to my Nestle cookie dough.  🙂 So I am going to have to declare this pinterest recipe a MISS.

Thanks for reading my blog! I will posting a lot more in this blog series! Hope you liked it! Next post is on Thursday!
